A must is climbing the mountain on which the castle of Santa Bárbara is located,
the beautiful castle and of course the view over the city and the bay.
There are also buses and a lift to the top.
Day trip to ElcheThis old city in the interior is located 35 minutes from Torrevieja,
a nice city with many good restaurants,
parks and the most palm trees in the world.
Visit the Palmeral park and see all the varieties of palms that the Romans brought to this place.
You will find more than 200,000 palms in this park, one of the largest in the world.
Day trip to MurciaMurcia has a long, interesting history and is today a lively tourist city,
full of culture, good food and with a vibrant student and nightlife. Murcia is located 50 minutes from Torrevieja.
Day trip to CartagenaCartagena is located about 61 kilometers from Torrevieja.
This large natural harbor is considered one of the most important ports in Spain.
The city from the third century BC has about 200,000 inhabitants.
Cartagena is a real open-air museum with its Roman amphitheatre,
the old city walls and the beautiful historic facades in the streets.
Las Salinas de TorreviejaLas Salinas de Torrevieja is a lake that sometimes seems to turn pink because of the salt.
Parque de las NacionesThis beautiful park in Torrevieja is more than worth it.
Dique de LevanteThe Dique de Levante is a 1600 meter long pier that
extends from the coast of Torrevieja into the Mediterranean Sea.
At the end of the pier there is also a lighthouse.
You can walk all the way across it.
There is parking underneath.
La Mata BeachNorth of the town of Torrevieja you will find La Mata Beach.
This is a beautiful and wide beach of golden and fine sand.
There are nice restaurants and you can get there in 10 minutes by car.
Museos flotantes Delfín S-61 y Albatros IIIThis small museum in the harbour of Torrevieja is situated in a submarine.
A nice outing for young and old.
Torre del MoroThe Torre del Moro is an old tower on the coast of Torrevieja.
The tower is easy to climb
and offers a beautiful view over the Mediterranean Sea.
Plaza de la Constitucion & Iglesia de La Inmaculada ConcepcionThe Plaza de La Constitucion,
is the square in front of the church Iglesia de La Inmaculada Concepcion.
Both together form a focal point within,
the old centre of Torrevieja.
Water parksFor those who need a bit more action than the calm waters of the Mediterranean,
there are Aquapolis Torrevieja (
www.torrevieja.aquopolis.es) and Aquapark Flamengo.
In these two water parks there is more than
enough swimming fun for everyone.
Museo del Mar y de la SalIf you want to learn more about the history of Torrevieja,
Museo Del Mar Y de La Sal is for you.
This museum tells you all about the
shipping and salt industry in the region.
There is also an extensive collection of
statues and sights
made of salt.
Monumento de Las CoralistasAt the beginning of the boulevard,
close to the local tourist office,
is the Monumento de Las Coralistas.
This monument is a fairly large fountain with
some
frescoes on the side.
MarketsThe market of Torrevieja is located near the aqua park.
According to some, the Mercadillo de Torrevieja is even the largest market on the entire Costa Blanca.
You will mainly find clothing, vegetables and fruit here.
-The market is on Friday from 9:00 - 14:00.
-On Saturday there is a market in Playa Flamenca from 08:00 - 14:00.
-And on Sunday you can visit the LemonTreeMarket in Guadamar.
This is open from 07:00 - 17:00.
-And from 08:00 - 14:00 is the Zoco market in Torrevieja.
At all markets you can enjoy
the wide range of food and drinks.
